“I believe in the cosmos. All of us are linked to the cosmos. So nature is my god. To me, nature is sacred. Trees are my temples and forests are my cathedrals.”

amborella asked: (2/2) it only becomes "trivial" when we try and force our own beliefs onto others. it is like we're trying to squeeze them into a box only we were meant to fit. we are both trying to smother another's individuality and also disrespecting our own. this is not to say we shouldn't be sharing our beliefs and practices with other people, but simply that we should only with conscious intention.

“We do not believe in ourselves until someone reveals that deep inside us something is valuable, worth listening to, worthy of our trust, sacred to our touch. Once we believe in ourselves we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight or any experience that reveals the human spirit.” E. E. Cummings

This

This was on Elf’s blog (loveinthetimeofscience). I thought I’d share her response with you.

Anonymous asked: i think its hilarious how you and slychedelic are really close but you think the soul and karma etc are totall bullshit and your like a conservative athiest and she’s all like a spiritual believer and your both preaching opposing views on your blogs.

Haha I guess it is a bit funny but for a start, I’d resent the idea of either of us “preaching” anything! We state our opinions but it’s not like we’re trying to convert people’s personal ideas either way. Plus we’re too good friends anyway to really care. Why should we? Ultimately our views on the world help us to be the people we are in our day to day lives but if we’re good friends why should it matter how we came to be those people?

“I believe in God, but not as one thing, not as an old man in the sky. I believe that what people call God is something in all of us. I believe that what Jesus and Mohammed and Buddha and all the rest said was right. It’s just that the translations have gone wrong.” John Lennon

“People say they believe in God. God is a metaphor for a mystery that absolutely transcends all human categories of thought. Even the categories of being and nonbeing. Those are still thought. I mean it’s as simple as that.” Joseph Campbell
